Komax Klean-Wall municipal sludge heat exchangers use a patented nonclogging Hi-Pass static mixer. The jacketed heat exchanger transfers heat from one media to another by utilizing hot water or hot sludge. The internal mixing elements create high turbulence at the pipe wall, removing the internal film coefficient that prevents high heat transfer. The static mixers can increase heat transfer four to six times more than a straight-jacketed pipe heat exchanger. Manufactured in carbon or stainless steel, in horizontal or vertical mounting configurations, the heat exchangers can heat sludge flow rates from 100 gal. per minute to 10,000 gpm.

Adey introduces the MagnaClean DRX magnetic dirt filter, which provides a compact solution for removing debris and black iron oxide sludge from commercial hydronic heating systems. It consists of an external magnetic belt with high-performing neodymium magnets, wrapped around a precision-engineered, stainless-steel canister. As system water passes through the canister, iron oxide is captured by the intense magnetic field. Magnets remain outside the flow, so there are no internal sleeves or components that must be removed and individually cleaned. In an in-line installation, the sludge can be drained when the system is shut down, the magnetic belt released and the drain valve opened.

UV Resources introduces the SLX high output ultraviolet fixture efficiently disinfects HVACR air streams, cooling coils and drain pans to keep them free of infection-causing and efficiency-robbing microorganisms and organic matter. The SLX lamps provide 360-degrees of high UV-C intensity and easily mounts to the exterior of supply, return or exhaust plenums or ducts. The UV-C wavelength kills pathogens on surfaces and in air streams and also stops the proliferation of infectious or allergenic agents.

The REHAU BIM library is now available on BIM content management platform UNIFI, allowing firms to design with REHAU PEXa plumbing and radiant heating/cooling content directly in Autodesk Revit models. Subscribers to the cloud-based platform UNIFI Connect can locate and adopt manufacturer content into their internal libraries. Collaboration and data exchange between all parties is reliable because data is accessed and updated in real time. BIM library administrators are alerted when manufacturers update their content libraries, facilitating timely updates within their open projects and their internal libraries.
